Beauty Tips NO.1: GoodBye Panda Eyes

First thing first, I am truly sorry for delaying this post. Been so caught up for the upcoming ceremony that I had no time to update this blog.

Anyhow let us begin..

So, what is this thing that people call as dark-eye circles..?

Lemme share with u some findings that I found on the net.

How dark under-eye circles are like bruises

When something hits you, blood vessels are traumatized and sometimes broken. Blood leaks out into the surrounding skin. Your body begins the mopping-up process, and you see a dark, purplish or blue-black discoloration.

So, as you can see, dark under-eye circles are very similar to bruises. The same mechanisms produce them.

But then, have you ever wondered what are actually the causes of it..?

Well, here are a few common things that causes dark-eye circles:

  • Persistent eye rubbing
  • Sleep difficulty - due to stress, depression, sleep disorders, etc
  • Allergies
  • Pallor - the paleness of the skin may accentuate the dark rings.
  • Inherited eye blood vessel condition - dark circles under the eyes run in families.
  • Thinning from age – Aging thins the skin, making veins and vessels more obvious as your fat and collagen depletes over time.
  •  Dehydration
  • Lack of sleep
  • Nasal congestion – a blocked nose can result in dark circles under your eyes because the veins that drain from your eyes to your nose are darkened and dilated
  • Black eye due to trauma
  • Frequent eye rubbing
  • Sun exposure – This can increase melanin production.
  • Lifestyle factors – Poor nutrition, excess alcohol consumption, too many caffeinated drinks, cigarette smoking, and lack of exercise can all contribute to under-eye discoloration. Consider seeing a nutritionist or dietician if you're concerned about dietary issues.
  • Your facial features – Dark circles may be as simple as shadows being thrown by your own features. There isn't much you can do change this other than careful use of cosmetics.

I personally have tried a few eye creams hoping that it can cure the dark circles or at least make it less obvious but then non which actually worked *sounds familiar..?* :)

Well, that is why I decided to turn to mother nature since it is less expensive, more convenient & most importantly very effective *fuh*

Lemme present to you the traditional method of healing the dark circles..

..tada..

Yes, Cucumber..but not just any cucumber it is the Japanese Cucumber or also known as Cucumis sativus (Scientific Binomial Name). I have personally tried using the Garden Cucumbers (the one that we normally see), however it doesn't seem to quite give the effect as how the Japanese Cucumber would.

You can find them at most groceries stores for example:

Giant Super market :) & yes they are normally less than RM2.00 ONLY~ that's great news right..? you can use them for at least a week if u keep them inside the fridge.

So now, what do you do with them..? Well, it's simple, cut them into 2 slices. The thickness of the slices depends on your personal preference. Most of the time, I prefer to cut them into 2 very thin slices such as this:

Then place them on both eyes. But make sure that they cover your dark circles areas. The reason being why I prefer it to be thin is so that I can make sure that they will actually touch my dark circle areas.

I have been using this method for quite a bit & it not only has shown some positive effect but it also makes u feel more rejuvenated every morning. I'd normally put them on before I go to sleep at night but how ever, you can use them while taking ur short naps. Either way, if you use it more often, *InsyaALLAH* you'll see the effect even faster.

HOWEVER..

Using Cucumber only won't give a long lasting effect as there are a few other matters that you need to keep in mind such as:

1. Get your beauty sleep
  • It’s not entirely clear why inadequate sleep results in dark circles under the eyes, but lack of sleep tends to cause the skin to become paler (thus increasing the appearance of darkness under the eyes), and reduces circulation. It’s also believed that too little time lying down is a cause in itself.

2. Eat well.
  • Eat a healthy balanced diet, take vitamins and drink plenty of water daily. A whole host of cosmetic problems can be attributed to vitamin deficiencies. Dark circles and puffiness are often attributed to lack of vitamin K or inadequate antioxidants. Also, a deficiency in B12 (usually anemia-related) can result in dark circles.
    • Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables—especially cabbage, spinach, and other leafy green vegetables—and take a daily vitamin supplement if necessary. Get adequate fluids to improve circulation.
    • Reduce salt intake. Excess salt causes the body to retain water in unusual places, and this can result in puffiness under the eyes. Too much salt can also impair your circulation, and cause the blood vessels under the skin to appear bluer.

3. Don't rub the eyes!
  • Focus directly on the under-eye skin. Keep in mind that any direct contact with your under-eye skin must be gentle, as this is the most delicate skin on your body.
  • Try to relax the space. Wet a cotton swab, then freeze it a short time. Then, gently wipe under your eyes in the areas where the circles are occurring. When wiping, close your eyes and try not to flinch.
  • Avoid rubbing your eyes. Usually rubbing of the eyes is brought on by allergies, but not always. It can also be an anxious habit or a reflex action. Regardless of the reason, it's best to stop doing it because the rubbing irritates the skin and can break the tiny capillaries underneath, causing both puffiness and discoloration.
  • Wear dark sunglasses to protect your skin from melanin changes.

I hope that these tips would help you in one way or another.

Do lemme know the results once you've tried them~ Feel free to ask me regarding this matter if you have any doubts :)

Have fun trying & Take Care dear~
